What's on My TBR? || 10 Books for the Last Half of the Year
We're halfway through the year, and this is the time I start frantically looking at my Goodreads Reading Challenge and seeing how many books I'm behind on and what I need to do to catch up. 😂
Shockingly, this year I'm actually ahead on my goal (that may or may not be due to the fact that I stuck some books I read for an English class in the challenge, and I usually don't count school books). But that could change any moment, and to keep me motivated with my reading goals, here are 10 books I want to read during this last half of the year!
1. The Wonderland Trials by Sara Ella
Technically I started like the first chapter in late 2023...but soon got distracted by other books and forgot about this one. I've had it on my bookshelf for a while now and I really need to read it soon. 😆
2. On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness by Andrew Peterson
I've shamefully never read any of Andrew Peterson's books and that sad fact is going to change sometime in the next few months starting with the first book in The Wingfeather Saga series.
3. Between Jobs by W.R. Gingell
This is the first book in yet another series (The City Between) I've been wanting to read for a while now, and after getting this one on Kindle last year, I plan on making time to read it!
4. Cabin Girl by E.G. Bella
E.G. Bella was kind enough to give me an ARC of her book last year and I haven't gotten around to reading+reviewing it. 😅 Definitely need to make that a priority soon!
5. When Tides Turn by Sarah Sundin
I read the first two books in the Waves of Freedom series last year and absolutely adored them! I want to check out the final installment because if it's going to be like the first two, it will be an intriguing historical romance!
6. Voices of the Future: Stories of Courage and Compassion by The Author Conservatory
Pulled together by the folks over at the Author Conservatory, a college-alternative program for writers, Voices of the Future vol. 2 is filled with stories written by young authors who are going through the program. I love the work they do over there, and these writers are fantastic storytellers. I received an ARC of the anthology and hope to read it soon!
7. The Ballard of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins
I've been a fan of the Hunger Games ever since reading the series and watching the movies a few years ago. I watched The Ballard of Songbirds and Snakes movie back in the fall and LOVED it, so I figure it's high time I read the book!
8. See How They Run by Ally Carter
I'm buddy-reading the Embassy Row series with some friends and just recently finished the first book, All Fall Down. While All Fall Down was a reread for me, this will be the first time reading See How They Run and I'm eager to see what happens next!
9. The Nightmare Virus by Nadine Brandes
Nadine Brandes (aka one of my absolute favorite authors ever) releases her next book on July 16th! 😍 And this time I went all out on preordering a hardback and getting the preorder goodies. 🤭 So needless to say, I'm very excited and can't wait to hold that beautiful book baby in my hands!
10. Positively, Penelope by Pepper Basham
I read the first book in the Skymar series earlier this year and while it did have a different feel to it (it was an epistolary novel) I highly enjoyed it! I hope to knock the second book off my TBR soon!
This list is definitely going to keep me busy! 😆 But I can't wait to dig in and hopefully discover some new favorite reads!
